About this experience

Takamaka Boutique Winery is the only winery in the world dedicated exclusively to lychee wine, using zero grapes. It was founded by Alexander Oxenham, the island's only qualified oenologist, who spent 15 years in research and development before creating wine from lychees grown in pesticide-free orchards around the estate. A guided visit walks you through the lychee winemaking process, including a documentary on the winery's history and stages of production. The tour is led by the oenologist himself or his spouse for a personal touch. The tasting session that follows features award-winning creations including the dry Tanara, the fruity Aquarel and the sweet Eclipse — three cuvées that each won gold medals at the 2023 Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge. Children are offered a non-alcoholic drink so they can join in too. A shop and coffee corner are available on site, and advance booking is advised.
